So, the Tantō:

I did finally get my tantō which is sick. I love this knife so far. It's about 30ish cm give or take and it is a still blade, or fixed blade as some people apparently call it. It's pretty sick. Came damn sharp out of the box too. I mean, I used to to cut lemons for a cheese cake me and my dad made over the weekend.

I did mildly fuck up and I think the lemons acidity did mildly tarnish the blade. But it's still sharp and true. I did try it out on the box when I got it and I checked the sharpness after cutting the lemons and it's still pretty sharp. I'm sure this isn't a real tantō, it's likely more of an afforable varitity of it.

The tantō's pretty good. My Cuz said it was "cute". Apparently a 30cm from tip to handle blade is cute? But to be fair she collects even cooler knives. So, fair.

Of course the dream would be to buy a genuine tantō from an actual reputable blacksmith, but uh... I'm broke. But the tantō is such a good blade design that even lower quality steal blades in the style works fantastic. It's mostly cause the tantō makes a great use of having more of a cutting edge than a point, so tip curl might need more delibrate force to cause. And honestly, at that point it's on you that the blade is curling.

Honestly, it's a good knife. I'm sure a more expensive model wouldn't have gotten tanshied by lemon juice of all things but it's pretty cool. I would like to get a kunai next. When I am not trying to save that is.
