So, have you ever heard about girly games?

I mean like, the big wig corpo compainies ideas to appeal to girls into making them gamers and well... Right of the back, I don't think game inherantly appeal more to any group than another. I mean, yeah, we all jokingly poke fun at the idea of the COD gamer or Fallout gamer and they all then to represent a demographic but in reality games appeal to who ever has interest in them.

Like what even is a girly game? Cooking can be fun and interesting for everyone. I loved Cooking Mama, and so did my brother. or what about games like farming sims? There is men who play those games too. Crafting is a fundimental part of survival games and damn near everyone plays those.

Note, I'm note saying some games apply better to demographics but rather that demographics can't be sold to effectively with games because well... No one really likes pandering. And most of the time the people who like a genre, even if they aren't the target demographic because it's still interesting. Again, sterotypical, and according to corpo's, girls don't like how FPS games are set up, and yet I exsist? Peopl like shit, the logic around it isn't very consistant.

I guess my challenge is there is literally no such thing as an over all demographic interest in certain genres. There is no perfect FPS gamer demographic. Most people who like FPS games like FPS games for what the genres provides. Same with horror, same with management sims, same with Action RPGs and so on. So, trying to sell to a girl gamer demographic should not be your main fixation as well, people don't just like things because of demographical reasons.

A more logical solution would be to find genres that have a primary female audioence and than, not change anything big and just continue producing simallar games in the genre? Again, if people like a Soulsbourne game altering it into a wildly different game doesn't keep the original audionce happy nor does it make the new fans happy for long. It's just no longer the original game.

I guess my complaint is it ironically feels kinda sexist to say that appealing to girl gamers translates to making really sterotypical games. Like, dude, it's not that hard. Make good games and the gamers that like that genre or gameplay loop will come to you. Gamers are like cats, make them comfortable and they'll be all friendly around you, try to force them to like you and they'll just lash out.

Plus, I feel like most gamers just want good games. Thing about it, why do some indie games hit massive streaks of profit. Because like most consumers, gamers really want good quality content. So if a gamer is a girl, I doubt she'd care about the demographic sterotypical games she ought to play and just, rather play whatever she wants to play.
