Allow me to just preface this with, I am not very knowledgeable about Native American culture, I.E read this with like a spoonful of salt. You know? Ask me about Fae or Christian shit and I'll rant for hours on end, but not many other things.
K. Now to the rant. I love, love, love the idea that monsters or spirits names are incredibly important and can summon them. But, I don't know why people get very upity about it? Like, how does it effect you if I get killed by a monster by summoning it. IDK if that makes sense? Like, honestly, if I summon, say a Wendigo or like Lucifer, I kinda see it as fair if die. You know?
Like, you poke a bear it's going to rip your head off. So I do get confused when people say you cannot name drop random monsters. Especially when the culture itself doesn't say you can't because if it being disrespectful but more like it being dangerous. And frankly, I don't mind dying because I pissed of some monster and it hunted me down. Not only would that prove magic and monsters is real, I get to not be here.
Honestly, that last point is more of a joke, but you get my point? I don't know why the hell I asked you that. It's not like you can respond. I still haven't got the chat box up and running. Like, for fucks sake. I really abandoned this damn site, didn't I?
Okay, back on topic. I get the point is more like 'cultural appropriaction' but I think there's a misunderstanding on what that is. Like, you, as the viewer, can be hyper fixated on other culutres wth out being an appropriator. I mean, else I shouldn't exist, because I can not like Greek, Roman, Norse, Christian, Grimm fairytales, Hans Christian Andersan, you get the idea. Plus what if someone is mixed, like either they get all the cultures or none. Estentially, my point is, no white knighting. Yes, you can point out how disrespectful a display of a culture is, but that doesn't mean you can gatekeep a whole ass culture, especially if you're not part of it. And even if you are, a person liking your cultures mythology, food, music, clothing, history, and so on, is not approration.
And if you think it is. Good god, you must hate Japan. I mean, I have seen more europian mythology and culture in manga and anime than any where else. Must say, they get it wrong sometimes, or just name drop it, but it's still something Japan does. I mean, holy shit, does Japan fan girl over the west sometimes. It's a little funny, because some of the west also fan girls. I think we should like lock a american or western weebo in a room with a Japanese fan of western culture and have them argue over which culutre is better.
But my point just boils down to, I think we should appriciated each culture, for the good and bad, and just vibe. It's too late, we can't seperate cultures, we fucked up and unleashed all the cultures to clash. We can only try to be respectful and try to be friends.
