Alright, let me preface this by saying, I have finished Fallout New Vegas, twice, and holy shit. Fallout: New Vegas is a amazing game. I don't think that there was a game I got as lost in, other than the likes of Euro Truck Simulator 2 or Vampire the Mascrade: Bloodlines, that I got as fixated on. Fallout: New Vegas is honestly a dream to play. It's got charm, style and a shit ton of things to do and places to see.
One of the things I adore about it, it that the game can and will lock you out of certain solutions to a quest. Case in point, too low repair, welp sucks that you've gotta patch up some solar panels. And as a result, it really feels like you are playing a character with strenghts and weakness. Plus, thanks to the karma system, which each faction has it's own karma meter, as a result you can lock yourself out of some faction situations to be able to be done. Case in point, while playing my second playthrough, I ended up killing the entire Crimson Caravan, and as a side effect, I was unable to turn in one quest that involved someone sympathetic to the Crimson Caravan. Not to mention the NCR.
Speaking of the NCR. I don't like the NCR. I am a huge fan of the Wild Card ending, mostly because The Legion is just a bunch of pricks that don't like bitched, blackjack and booze, the NCR is just the American Government and Mr. House is a little annoying. Mr. House is honestly not all that bad, I just don't like the idea of putting a thousand year old guy who hasn't seen the wastes in charge of controlling the wastes. Besides, Wild Card is the best card. You get all the power, of course with all the risk, but you can hand pick who to let live or die. Like, i let the White Glove Socioty stay as cannibals, because I always play a cannibal, but my brother went a head and stopped that in his playthrough.
Another great thing is the perks. I love the Fallout: New Vegas perk systems as well. My favourite load out is, Cherchez La Femme, Black Widow, Fight the Power, Cannibal, Lead Belly, Tag and Center of Mass. I love that it shows up in dialog or interactions, which is closer to Fallout one, and it's kinda badass to use some of them in dialog. Like, if you have Black Widow you can lure Benny up to his room or even sleep with him if you want to. Although I just blow his brains out. Karma.
Talking about Benny boy. The Fallout New Vegas intro just always give me chills when I see it. Just that slow pan back, showing off the drunk NCR, than the Vegas Rangers, the Fiends and finally the Legion and of course then the whole speach from Benny. I think the only other character I hate as much as Benny, by design, was Zachary Hale Comstock. I just hate Benny. I mean, sure dude, Nothing personal. For you maybe. Besides, nothing is more fun than snagging Maria afterwards and wearing his suit when I can. Fuck Benny.
But thankfully, not everyone is as annoying as ol' Benny boy. I really adore the followers in Vegas. Especially Cassidy. Or Sharon Rose of Cassidy. Damn, is Cass a badass follower. She is damn good with a revolver, rife or some dynamite and her base perk makes withdraws from alchol a joke. She also rocks a badass cowgirl persona. Pity you can't marry npcs in New Vegas without mods, but I still love Cass.
Another damn cool think in Vegas is the smaller factions. You see, between NCR, Legion and Mr. House, we've got these smaller factions filled with really colourful characters. One of my favourites is The Kings. I mean, come on, Elvis themed gang with the coolest gang leader that gives you a cyber dog! What's not to love. Plus depending on how you act, you can make The Kings less hostile to the NCR or just add fuel to the fire. Another reason I adore this game.
But that's about all for now. Just a 'lil rant about my favourite game. I'll probably drop in with more bullshit soon. See yeah, lads, lasses and lurkers.
