Okay, I am not a very perfectly ethical person. Like, if I didn't already live in Helhiem, I would be convinced that I'm heading to hell (Christian hell, btw). But you don't need to be perfect to have ideas. Soo... here's my understanding of ethics:
Personally, I think I believe in a combernation of Pessimism, the idea that human life has no inherent value and that it gains value by your actions, and a kinda idea of 'do no harm'.
I never really bought into the idea of optimism, which states that human life has value and you honestly are just perfect as you are, nor the idea of nilism, which is the idea that nothing has value and we should just die. So, I defaulted to Pessimism. I like the idea that you are allowed to feel like life has no value, but it's honestly stupid to me to think that your life has no value. Mostly because spitting in the face of death is value in some manner.
I mean, humans are already bastards of biology and the natural world. Like we have enough sentience to have culture and religion and sociaty in a manner that is more complex than animals. So we are already spitting in the face of death with science and medicine, why not go the full way?
Plus, it's fine to make your life's goal something that is more personal than sociatal. Like,if your life goal is to have a collection of Star Wars cosplay or to get married or to watch every hentai anime out there, than that's your life goal. Working towards something is kinda natural instinct.
Alright, so my ethics is very simple. Don't fucking hurt anyone. Everyone deserves human rights, but because everyone deserves human rights, those who threaten human rights need to be stopped. Whether that is by inprisionment or exile or, god forid, the gilotine, we have to try to prevent any victims as much as possible.
So, like I see nothing ethically wrong with, say, a gay couple, if both parties are adults and consenting. As there's not really a victim in the matter. But a child and an adult is not ethical, as well, children are not devolped enough to consent. Same with things like BDSM (since both parties are consenting, and quite frankly usually enthusiastic) is completely ethical.
Esentially, 'cause no harm'. That's my ethics. If any of your actions lead to the direct or indirect, but acknowledgeble, harm, than it is an unethical action. It does not matter to whom the action is done, nor why the action is done, causing harm is just harm.
So, like... If you have a person who you know for a direct fact would go and murder someone, it is ethically okay to force them out of general sociaty but (and this is a big big but), it is unethical to directly harm the hypothetical person as you are still causing harm than.
Of course, animals are also part of this line up. I do think causing harm, I.E hunting or farming animals, can be allowed for the greater good to humans or other animals. Mostly, you shouldn't cause unneeded harm to animals. At all. Mostly because it's just a shitty think to do. It's pointless, and if you're planning on eating any animals, it'd just ruin the flavour.
The way I see it, death is a very serious thing. Hel, or Thanitos, or Death, or The Grim Reaper, whatever you call the concept or deity of death, should be respected as much as human life. As a result, every choice that costs life, human or otherwise, should be done with extreme levels of respect and care.
