So, dress up games?

I mean games that let me play dress up in them. Like, Saints Row Re-elected, Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas, Cyberpunk 2077, mildly in Red Dead Redemption and the lovely VTM: Bloodlines, although less so in the last one. It's just fun.

Saints Row Re-elected:

Like, in Saints Row Re-elected I spent almost all my money on clothing. Like, I was out here planning outfits for my Miss President. Okay, she was running around in a business casual mixed with Mafia style and by god did she look hot and badass in it. I freaking love dressing up in games. It's soo fun. Or like, I dressed her up with those neat glasses Morphous from the Matrix had and a long dark purple coat and jeans. Plus, I invested into Pistol dual weild and does she look badass? Yes. Very much so. Oh, bonus points, because I got a Saints Street tattoo on her one arm and her usual outfit has the sleeve rolled up on that arm too show it off. Very cool.

I also mildly customised my cars to look professional and over the top classy. And that's not even mentioning the pirate outfit, the early 2000s E-girl outfit or just how funny it looked with her running up the side of walls dressed like a Mafia boss.

God, I love Saints Row so far. And apparently, I'm only 11% of the way through the game. I can't wait to see what else is going to happen.

Or like in Skyrim, I tried dressing up just a little while in town. Or kept trying to get Orcish armour as it had a lions head for the helm and I always play Khajit. So, the cat woman wear armour themed around cats. Or I'd dress her up as a noble to talk to Jarls. Although, trying to find outfits that worked with the tail was a bit annoying. Likely canonical however as Skyrim is not know for having that many Beast Folk.

I mean, lorewise, my khajit was a orphan raised by Nords that firmly believes she is a Nord. So, her dressing up in Nord cloting kinda works.

Even when I was playing as an Altmer, I tried to keep her looking prim and proper. After all a proper High Elf Mage shouldn't debase herself with peasent clothing and metal armour. Nay, she just as easily cast a ward instead.

Fallout New Vegas:

Fallout New Vegas had me wasting my one request of The King, on being allowed to be a member of The Kings to dress up as one of them down to the haircut. Uh, lorewise, I'm going with the idea that my courier took over the Strip to expand the control of The Kings. Although, I always steal Benny's suit as well and kinda waltz around the stip in it. He deserves it after shooting me twice in the head with a 9mm. But I'd also try to get bonnets or nice hats to match my outfits.

Plus the second I got Veronica in my party, I made sure to stock as many dresses for her as possible. If my buddy wants a dress, by heaven and hell, she's not only getting one, she's getting the best one I can find, steal or salvege.

The only drawback was faction armour also changed faction karma. So, one time I kept having to fight NCR troopers because I was wearing Legion armour and didn't remember that. I mean, they should've loved me. I killed some Legion to get that armour. I was doing their job for them.

Cyberpunk 2077:

And Cyberpunk 2077's outfit system. I spent all my time in the Japantown Apartment, planning outfits. I had a work outfit themed around V being a Nomad, a formal outfit, a chilling around outfit like cosy clothes, a alternative outfit that was more themed around Johnny and so on. It was at the point where I would be wasting in game hours just stealing clothing or playing dress up. Only problem was that my V had such magnificent hair I didn't want to cover it with a hat.

Although, I do like the idea that Johnny's fashion sense was slowly taking over my V's own. Like, most of the endings I went with was V ending, but I am convinced she still wearing Johnny's jacket and Avaitors while on the road with Panam.

Oh, I also almost walked out naked one of the times because my V has a full black out tattoo that looked almost like a vest. So, I looked down and assumed I was wearing a visit until I noticed there was no shoes. That must be interesting to explain to any partners she'd end up with. Just, like, "Yeah, I got a full chest and back tattoo that looks like a vest. In my defense I was being edgy after the Bakker break-up."

VTM: Bloodlines:

VTM: Bloodlines is somewhat similar although, my Malk, Vanny, did not get clothing. Her first outfit, a "pin-up schoolgirl" look, her second "pin-up cowgirl" third "pin-up cop". At least the fourth one was a biker outfit, not trying to look fetishy this time. But, well, if that's how Vanny wants to express herself, who am I to complain. At least she was having fun. And honestly, it was kinda fun to go full "axe murder" while dressed as a slutty cop. Very Malk of her.

Besides, the male Malk outfits where much better. His could be described as "just pants" or in the later stage "pimp". It's kinda to play into the progress of the characters. So, for Vanny, she started immature and unaware of the Kindred world, than she become an enforcer of sorts and finally got full badass statues with biker leathers.

Back to Vanny, honestly, I liked her most in the Biker leathers. It looks badass and I only got it end game, so it felt badass. Besides, what's cooler than a biker babe with a katana and a big iron? A vampire biker babe with a katana and a big iron.

It is just a Malk thing in Bloodlines though. I remember starting a Toreador run afterwards and my goodness. Rose, said Toreador, had class and style. She looked like a damn model. She had this nice dress with a slit on the side and I can see why normal humans would simp for her. Or at least the few I talked to did.

Fallout 4:

Fallout 4 even got this right, and I'm more of a Vegas fangirl. Like, I had named my Nora, Greta von Schnider. She was a 10 strenght character which I assumed moved to America from Germany. I had a lot of fun dressing her up. Most of the time she was in a suit and slacks, but than I found a mascot head. Namely, a bear mascot head. Well, Greta ended up wearing that on jobs and the suit on interpersonal missions or dipomacy missions. I can imagine how scary a lady wearing full metal armour with a mascot bear head running at you with a super sledge in her hands would be.

My one and only complaint on Fallout 4 is that I wish I could see my holstered weapons. It just feels odd to look at your character in thrid person and not see either their gun or bat or slegde or something. I mean, I get it Greta, you're a fancy Lawyer, but you are also now a gunslinger strong woman. You don't need to conceal carry your sledgehammer.

Bloodbourne:

I only managed to get up to the Blood Starved Beast, but still. I've wasted an unreasonable amount of time and blood echoes on clothing. Bloodbourne is really the fashion souls, man. I don't think I've even looked at clothing status yet, I've just dressed up in what looks either the most badass or cute.

So far, I've been wearing the gloves off of the Black Chruch set, the jacket of the Gascoigne's set, the first Hunter pants you get and a top hat. I plan on styling on the monsters before getting rid of them. Also, I bought the blades of mercy after grinding for a bit, so I have two sleek daggers on top of it. And prior to that, I had the Threaded Cane. Either way, I want to look stylish as all hell.

Lorewise, I like the idea some of the hunters follow where sophsitication seperates man from beast. Hence, top hat and proper wear. I'd love to get more clothing and hopefully mix and match where I can.

Aan die einde

I like when games let you play dress up. I mean, some games greatly limited your roleplay to the point where dress-up is all you an really do, like Skyrim, but even in full open world games like Vegas, it just works. It's just fun to either play dress up with your character or get into character and plan outfits around practicality or how it's fit a characters style.

It's really an odd little thing that increases imersion. You wouldn't really expect being up to strap on bracelets or wear a mascot bear mask or wearing a top hat would get you into the world, but it really does.
