Look, I am about 7 hours or so into the game, which means I just got past the intro, and fucking hell, it's fantastic. I don't know how to explain it in anything other than it's a classic rpg. I mean, VTM: Bloodlines, Fallout: NV kinda thing. I love this this game so far. Of course I had to go and get the update, 'cause the disc I got was one of the first few releases, which meant it would have been beyond buggy prior to the update, but after the update it's now at reasonably levels of bugginess.
Look, you are going to see t-poses, maybe have audio randomly stop working, have npcs teleport in while you're not looking sometimes but it is freaking fun as all hell. I love the way it plays so far. There is a lot of freedom, at least compared to games like skyrim, which... Yeah, okay, most everything is less railroady than Skyrim. But still. Look, I've played VTM: Bloodlines, and Vegas, so I do think I have a bit of a leg to stand on. And dude, it's good so far.
Even the characters I thought I'd not like are somewhat interesting and cool. Although, I totes freaking called a few things from the intro, but that doesn't really mean that it wasn't handled all that well, if that makes sense. I really like how they handled it and so far, stories good, graphics are some of the best I've ever seen (Although, I usually play like ps3 to older games), music is badass I love techno, I love the cybernetics and after reading the ttrpg's lore I love the world even more.
The other thing which is pretty cool is that it really reminds me of VTM: Bloodlines with the why they handle the "nightlife" if you will. Like, we've got a real overthinking of how crime would work out. I mean like already the concept of Brain Dances are pretty interesting, with the idea of crimes and stuff just being filmed through this techonology that let's the viewer feel everything of the oginial filmer. I freaking love how cool that is. Yeah, it's usually used for XXX stuff, but it's also just cool tech being used in an unethical but understandable use of the tech.
I think one of the other interesting things I also really like is just how it plays. There's a lot of character specific things, actually. If you have high strength you can rip open car door or punch people out. If you play as a Nomad, you'd get the chance to choose dialog options that references how your life was or what you learnt from being a Nomad, and I assume that it's the same for Streetkid and Corpo. Of course, it's not like on the level of VTM where playing Nos more or less locks half the game out of your reach, but it is still fantastic.
I guess my point is that it's fantastic that I get to play a proper rpg again. I finished VTM: Bloodlines and Fallout: NV but I am not a fan of some other games like Fallout 4 (I'm trying to grind through it but for some reason I've somehow made it really fucking hard) and I feel like I'm tired as fuck about Skyrim (I feel like after I played one full play through, including a lot of side quests, I don't have anything to do). But with Cyberpunk, it's a classic RPG. Is it perfect? No. Does it run like butter? Well, it's cyberpunk 2077, so no. Is it some of the most fun you can have on an afternoon? I'd say yes.
